Orchard & Tree Crops

As orchard growers and contractors would know, with increased costs of production factors such as fuel, labour and product rates play an important role in choosing a new sprayer, as well as effective coverage when applying fungicides and foliar fertilisers.

New technologies developed by Croplands, such as the Quantum Mist fan, are helping growers improve efficiency in their orchards including:

Excellent coverage in the crop canopy

The Quantum Mist has a number of axial fans, which are designed to move air in a corkscrew pattern to get through the canopy and on to underside of leaves.

With three Quantum Mist heads per side, the Tower Sprayer provides much more precise application to each sector of the tree, with a total of 24 nozzles per tree-canopy side compared to a conventional sprayer with around 10 nozzles per side. This delivers a better coverage compared to traditional blast fans.

There is also the potential to lower fungicide or foliar fertiliser application rates due to better coverage.

Increased travel speed, less horsepower

The sprayer can move at an increased speed compared to other sprayer models, meaning you can spend less time in the tractor.

The Quantum Mist also requires less horsepower, saving you money on fuel & running costs.

Reduced noise & drift in sensitive areas

The Quantum Mist is less noisy than a traditional air blast sprayer and due to the axial blast technology, there is less drift of chemicals, making it an ideal choice for sensitive areas.

Quantum Mist – leading the way in efficiency

In 2003 the Quantum Mist fan was released to meet the demands of horticulture producers for improved application of crop protection products.  Even from the early days of design and testing, it became clear that directed air axial fan technology could provide increased efficiency for grape growers in terms of better spray coverage, faster travel speeds, energy savings, outstanding reliability, and minimal drift potential.

The ability to spray large areas of vines economically and effectively was just what the market needed. Growers seeking enhanced efficiency across increased acreages, options for multi-row application, and technologies to reduce spray drift were impressed by the results achieved with Quantum Mist.

Croplands have continued to invest in improvements, and have seen the Quantum Mist application technology become the market leader in horticulture. Today, Croplands can offer the widest range of sprayers of any manufacturer utilising multi-head axial fans.

The simplicity and reliability of the Quantum Mist underpins the proven performance of the system in the field. Spray coverage has never been better than with this technology.

Efficiency gains have been outstanding, and it’s no secret that the Quantum Mist has been a huge success for producers as a result.
